How should you track job applications?

In short

Track each role as one record with posting link, fit assessment, company research, contacts, outreach status, and application date. Not just URL and "applied." Spreadsheets store status; they do not run fit analysis or draft outreach. Puvio uses one card per role with stages from research through reply. You still apply through company portals. Puvio is the candidate-side board, not an employer ATS.

Question on top. Direct answer under it. That is how these pages are written.

What does a spreadsheet miss?

A column for "status" does not tell you who to message or what to say. Separate tabs for research, contacts, and drafts fragment the work.

If you only need a handful of URLs and dates, a sheet is fine. Switch when you want fit, research, contacts, and a draft on the same row.

What should each role record include?

Posting link, fit, company research, who to message, outreach draft, and status. One card, not split across sheets.

Puvio does not import a spreadsheet. Save each posting as a new role card and paste the URL. Fit and intel land on that card. Comparison: https://puvio.app/answers/puvio-vs-spreadsheet-job-tracker

Is a spreadsheet enough for a small search?
If you track a handful of URLs and dates, yes. Once you need fit scores, contacts, and drafts per role, a spreadsheet becomes a pile of tabs. https://puvio.app/answers/puvio-vs-spreadsheet-job-tracker
