Puvio
In short
Search people currently at the company who share a school or a prior employer with you. That is the alumni path. Then look at people already on the team in the posting, even if they are not alumni. Ask for a referral or a short take. Do not scrape two hundred names and paste the same paragraph. Puvio ranks alumni first on each saved posting, next to company research, then drafts a note from your record. You send it. Puvio does not log into LinkedIn and does not promise the person is the hiring manager.

List your overlap
Schools, internships, prior companies. Those are the filters that make a cold note less cold.
Search who is there now
People currently at the company with that overlap. Then people on the specific team in the posting.
Pick a few, not a roster
Two to six names with a real hook. A blast to the alumni group is spam with a school logo.
Ask for a referral or a take
Shared context, one-line fit, small ask. Copy a Puvio draft if you used the role card. Send it yourself.
Same school, same internship program, same prior employer. People treat that as a reason to open. Strangers do not.
If you have no overlap, you can still message people on the team. The note has to work harder. Their work, your record, a small ask.
Alumni first, then other people at the company, on the same card as the posting and the research. A hiring_manager tag in the product is a heuristic, not a guarantee you found the req owner.
Discovery never assigns a “peer” type. You still choose who to send to. Product: https://puvio.app/answers/what-is-puvio
